Once “Greenforce” drew back, many funny people were gone with them. Things changed like so often. Less volunteers means more work for the others - Except in the kitchen. Cierto?
Not really. By way of exception I took a little more time being sporty. Meanwhile my crony companion Don Derek put up a little exercise involving loads of “up’s” and the daily tackle to the river.
Our long before announced run to Tena we accomplished on his last Friday in Jatun Sacha. The morning of the 2nd of March fullfilled all needed conditions.- Six hours sleep and a still cloudy sky. I let my pancake sit on the plate and took off dressed in tight running gear carrying my Getorade bottle filled with water. We took the route over Misauhalli where you’re offside bus distractions facing a nice landscape on the plan well curved asphalt. Besides a few arrogant dogs defending there territory, I didn’t have any incidences. Derek caught up my lead after 2 and a half hour by the bridge of Puerto Napo having trouble with a loose pedal on the bike. Friendly mechanic guys of some auto shop at the corner fixed us another nut during a stretching break with Powerade. Afterward we overmastered the major hill leading with a relaxing down slope into Tena where we had lunch and a dip in the wet.
Six days later he had to say goodbye after his 5 month long stay.
We were living it up in Quito for the last time. Thanx for finding your way to the Sacha man!
